The Inaugural Regional Symposium 2011, sponsored by the Commonwealth Department of Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government, was held at the Australian National University and Bateman’s Bay on 25 – 26 August 2011. Local government office holders and officials, community members, university researchers and local businesses worked together during the Symposium on the challenges of urbanisation, population pressures, the impacts of climate change and the environmental and social impacts of urban growth for the south east region of Australia.
