Putting Transport Pricing into the National Planning Discussion: Experience of Infrastructure Australia
State/Territory: ACT

This paper examines the current amount of transportation funding needs in Australia through to 2050, reviewing current estimates of such needs and arriving at a broadly plausible consensus figure. The paper will then assess how pricing of transport could meet some or all of those needs and discuss how the political debate over pricing has been unfolding and the role that IA has been playing in that debate. The paper will conclude with a discussion of policy and political prospects of transport pricing nationally.
